Your chronological age is just a count of trips around the sun.   • Persistent poor sleep, which is tied to inflammation and metabolic changes
  • Long periods of physical inactivity
  • Chronic stress without recovery time or social support

On the flip side, regular physical activity, consistent sleep, strong social connections, and a diet pattern that supports healthy blood sugar and cholesterol are all associated with a biological age that tracks closer to — or even below — chronological age.

Why this matters more than a single number

The appeal of a biological age estimate isn't the number itself — it's what the number implies: that aging responds to changeable inputs. Unlike your birth date, your biological age is at least partly a moving target. That reframes health decisions from abstract ("eat better because you should") to concrete ("this habit is estimated to be adding years to your body age").

It's worth being honest about the limits, too.
