Heart age, or vascular age, is the age of a person with the same 10-year cardiovascular risk as you but with all risk factors at healthy levels. If your heart age is higher than your real age, your heart is aging faster than it should.

How is heart age calculated?

We use the Framingham General Cardiovascular Risk Profile (D'Agostino et al., Circulation 2008), which combines age, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, blood-pressure treatment, smoking and diabetes to estimate 10-year risk, then converts that risk into a heart age.

Do I need a blood test?

Accepted Answer

For the most accurate result you need your total and HDL cholesterol numbers. If you don't have them, we use population-average values so you can still get a useful estimate from blood pressure, smoking and diabetes.
